Spring Back Festival 2021

See the calendar below for specific dates for Spring Back Festival!

Join us in celebrating the local merchants and live music in the core of our city!

What’s Different?

Spring Back Fest celebrates local art and music live in the center of the city. This year instead of a three-day jam-packed program, we will be spacing it out over 22 days during the month of July and title it the Spring(back)fest. We will program the streets of downtown Kamloops with a rotating roster of local Musicians, with specific dates featuring special activities. On July 16, 17, and 18 we will shut down specific city blocks off Downtown with a stage featuring local performers, and a Downtown merchant’s market will the streets to encourage the community outdoors in a safe and inclusive way. We will also run sidewalk sales and promotions with local merchants, with a total of 22 local artists performing amongst the colourful display.

A Note about COVID

In 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic stopped all events and consequently, many artists have experienced financial repercussions with the cancellation. With BC’s Restart program, we are hopeful that Springfest will proceed in a safe manner that will accommodate the needs and speeds of everyone.

Why it is Important?

This project enhances the community by helping to establish and foster our cultural identity and appreciation of the arts.
Springfest 2021 combined program provides direct funding support to the BC music sector and opens opportunities for local musicians to connect with new audiences as other local musicians, promoters, BIAs, and the music industry at large.

Cancelled: Block Closures

200 & 300 Block

To our valued Kamloops friends, residents, and visitors. The following announcement is being made on behalf of the Downtown business community.

In response to the health hazards associated with excessive smoke blanketing our City, the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association has made the difficult decision to once again cancel plans for the Spring(back)Fest Block Party and block closures, scheduled for this upcoming weekend July 29, 30 & 31. The health of everyone in our community is paramount, and air quality conditions at this time are not favourable to outdoor activities. Downtown Kamloops typically hosts in excess of 30 events annually, and were fully prepared to host the block party this weekend.  This is the third time this Block Party had to be cancelled due to environmental conditions that are out of our control – despite our desires.  We are very disappointed to lose our opportunity to connect and renew friendships.

Downtown Kamloops Executive Director, Carl DeSantis said, “We were ready to go and everything was in place for the weekend.  We are extremely disappointed, and know you are also disappointed.  The issue is the relentless smoke in Kamloops.  While smoky conditions may change throughout the day, there is no reasonable expectation individuals will be able to safely enjoy outdoor activities for prolonged periods of time for the foreseeable future.”

Downtown Businesses will continue to operate and appreciate your ongoing support.  Our restaurants, retailers and services continue to offer climate-controlled indoor spaces allowing people to get out of the smoke, and remember, Support Local.
