New leadership in Downtown Kamloops

The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association (KCBIA) is excited to announce we will have new leadership in Downtown Kamloops! Carl DeSantis is all set to join the team January 22nd, taking on his new role as Executive Director.

As the new Executive Director, Carl is “both excited and honoured to have been chosen to lead the KCBIA.” Moreover, Carl says he is “anxious to get to work and have constructive conversations with our stakeholders.”

Gay Pooler, the outgoing General Manager for the organization, has held the position for 14 years. She states that “we have been working towards a smooth transition for the past year and are confident that we can maintain our forward momentum. Carl is keen to tackle the challenges of this ultimately rewarding career.”

Gay believes that “change is a positive thing, in this case for both myself and the organization, it facilitates new growth. I am excited to be embarking upon a new path in my journey through life. I am looking forward to being in the private sector again and I look back on my time with the KCBIA with much gratitude. Gratitude for the many people I have worked with throughout the community. Gratitude for the education I have gained, I believe in continual learning in life and I have gained so much knowledge in the past 15 years. I am honoured to have been a part of the evolution of Downtown Kamloops and happy and grateful for the journey.”

On behalf on the KCBIA Board of Directors, President Mike O’Reilly adds that the new Executive Director will “build on the foundation we have created”. Mike adds that Carl will be a “fantastic addition to the downtown community” and is confident that he will “lead our strategic direction to fulfill the organization mandate”.
