A Story Book Village
Enjoy a family friendly holiday experience that transforms Downtown into an immersive Storybook Village.
Presented by Thompson Rivers University.
Nov 28 – Jan 6 2021

The Storybook Village, presented by Thompson Rivers University (TRU) returns Sunday, November 28th till Thursday, January 6th, and Downtown Kamloops invites you to join the biggest outdoor celebration of the year!
The Storybook Village Returns! Enjoy a family friendly holiday experience that transforms Downtown into an immersive Story book Village. This holiday season, you can safely explore a version of your favourite holiday stories presented in storefront windows. Large, easy-to-read printed pages are shown at street level so kids and families can read the story, page by page, scene by scene, business by business. Whether it is a traditional holiday story or a diverse holiday narrative, participating storefronts decorate their windows to shortened versions of books such as ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’, ‘The Nutcracker’, “A Christmas Carol’. Pictured through lights, ornaments, characters, and window paintings the Storybook Village begins for the Santa Parade and runs until after New Year.
Do a fun family scavenger hunt this holiday season or just explore 1 book each day. So, mask up and remember to stay 2 reindeers apart (6 ft)! 🦌🦌
✅ Oh, and don’t forget to VOTE for your Favourite Storybook Window Display – ‘Best Represented Story’.

A Sustainable Holiday Season
The Holiday Season is just around the corner, and we’re all getting ready. We know you are looking forward to shopping, decorating, and baking. It’s time to spruce up our lives with all of the Holiday festivities even though this year is very different. But there’s something vital for us all to remember when making preparations for Christmas. What we all should take into consideration is how sustainable we are this holiday season. This season is one of the leading culprits for much of the waste that occurs at the end of the year. And here at Downtown Kamloops, we’ve got some tips and tricks to help prevent waste this holiday season. A Sustainable Holiday Season is what we need!
