2019 Nominees for the KCBIA Board of Directors:

Yvonne Reddick – Yvonne Reddick Art Studio (Tenant)          

  • Nominated by Nicki James and Greg Hanycz

Yvonne has been in Kamloops for 33 years. Her first career was an elementary school teacher and then in 2006 transitioned to a full time Visual Artist running her own business. She was one of the founding members of the Kamloops Safe Housing Society and served on their board from 2002 to 2006. Yvonne absolutely loves living and working in Downtown Kamloops and is very excited about good things ahead that will enhance the vibrancy of our City.

Nicki James – Main Street Clothing   (Tenant)

  • Nominated by Yvonne Reddick and Mario Pietranna

Nicki spent 6 years on the KCBIA Marketing Committee, 6 months with Venture Kamloops Accelerate Committee and 20 years with the Kamloops Ladies Soccer Team. Nikki is passionate about promoting the downtown core, tourism and culture, getting all types of downtown businesses to work together and coming up with solutions to the increasing downtown vagrancy issues. Nikki is a very positive, proactive person who leads by example. As a business owner downtown for several years, she is aware of the growth that has occurred as well as what needs to be improved upon.

Robbie Tallon – Jerry Spice Inc. Accountants (Tenant)

Robbie currently serves as Treasurer for Elizabeth Fry Society

Jesse Faubert – Common Sound | Avenue Media House | Ninth Company (Tenant)      

  • Nominated by: Nominated by Dino Bernardo and Maeghan Summers

Jesse is interested in creating more opportunity and support for young entrepreneurs; creating a more vibrant downtown by attracting new talent and to help reduce the amount of talent that is leaving our city; and to increase awareness and brand equity of the downtown core.

 Maren Luciani – Meraki Community Planning (Property Owner)

  • Nominated by Scott Campbell and Michael Blackwell

Maren has served on several other boards and currently is a Mentor at UBC School of Community of Regional Planning for 4 years.

 Christopher Mitra – Continental Barber Shop (Tenant)

  • Nominated by: Grayden Flanagan and David Fuoco

Christopher has lived in Kamloops for 51 years and lived in Downtown for 21 years. Apart from owning 2 businesses, he is also an RCMP Auxiliary Officer and a Restorative Justice Facilitator.

John Mercuri – Andre’s Telus Business Center (Tenant)

  • Nominated by: Grayden Flanagan and Dino Bernardo

John previously served on the KCBIA six years ago. Andre’s Telus is a major sponsor of the Kamloops Blazers and one of the top 25 sales representatives for TELUS in Canada. John hopes to be more involved within the community and to see the downtown core become more revitalized.

Luke Chidgzey – Royal Bank of Canada (Tenant)

  • Nominated by Scott Campbell and Brendan Shaw

As a long-time resident of Kamloops and as a Business Account Manager who works with downtown businesses, Luke is passionate about the prosperity of the downtown business community. He is interested in preserving and improving the downtown business community by providing strategic oversight and guidance. He is knowledgably in financial statement analysis and governance and has formal training in policy and stakeholder advocacy.

 

NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association, notice is hereby given of the Society’s Annual General Meeting to be held April 17, 2019 from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm at The Plaza Hotel, Blackwell Room, 405 Victoria St, Kamloops, BC V2C 2A9. This is the call for Nominations to the Board of Directors.  There are 3 seats available on the board this year.

As per our Constitution and Bylaws, nominations will close at 4:00 pm April 10, 2019 (7 days prior to the Annual General Meeting). To view these bylaws, please press here.

The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association has a mandate to accurately represent all facets of our general membership. We encourage you to take a moment and determine whether you or someone you know has the desire to seek election to the Active Board of Directors. We elect directors once per year at our Annual General Meeting in the Spring.

We require Directors in both the Property Owner and Tenant categories for a 2 year term.Nominees must represent either a business or a commercial property owner within the KCBIA area, which is a member in good standing.

As a member of the Active Board of Directors of the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association, expectations include:

  • Support the mandate and strategic direction for the KCBIA.
  • A desire to be actively involved in your downtown community.
  • Attend and contribute during Board of Directors meetings.
  • Attend functions sponsored by the KCBIA from time to time.
  • Possibly sit on an advisory committee, task force or an existing community committee.
  • Executive Director and President are media spokespersons for the BIA but you will be responsible for representing the BIA when speaking to members.
  • Volunteering and recruiting volunteers for downtown events.
  • Respond to emails from KCBIA staff regarding meetings and opinions on current issues.
