I’m sure you have heard people say that ‘love’ is a word that gets used perhaps more than it should. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, it once again becomes increasingly trendy to point out all of the clichés surrounding the idea of ‘love’ (although this in itself has become a bit of a cliché); however, as a member of the CAP Team and as a person who values the Downtown community, this time of year seems appropriate for dishing out some well-deserved love to Downtown and everything that the CAP Team has developed, shall we say, ‘feelings for’.
Firstly, we must mention Downtown’s effortless good looks. The intimate quality of Downtown on a clear evening is hard to resist. Whether it’s under a setting sun in August or a full moon in February, one can’t help but feel seduced by the streetscape. Lit by overhanging tree lights and serenaded by music floating out of passing restaurants, the scene makes you want to stop and take it all in. The CAP Team has come to cherish these evenings and the many interactions, be it with patron or merchant, that occur throughout them.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Downtown’s ability to be a particularly giving partner in love. The CAP Team is fond of spontaneity in our daily pursuits, and the Downtown business community never fails to put forth generous promotions, tantalizing sales, and captivating contributions to every event and ‘special occasion’ we throw at them. Healthy romantic relationships are all about what you give, and we believe our relationship with Downtown is mutually beneficial.
Have I mentioned yet that Downtown is great with kids too? The parks and street games that Downtown offers during the summer months keep the kids entertained for hours. The kids clothing stores and kid-friendly restaurants are what give Downtown that charming family touch, and who can resist that?
I’m also reminded of Downtown’s tendency to be a bit of a party animal. The variety offered allows one to jump from a restaurant, to a bar, to a brewery, to a club all in the span of a single night. The CAP Team loves to see people out starting their weekend the right way by enjoying what Downtown has to offer after regular business hours.
I suppose what I’m really trying to say is that Downtown Kamloops is our better-half. It’s the half that makes the CAP Team whole. Downtown Kamloops, our hearts are yours for the taking. Consider this a love letter, from the Team to you.
