Underwater Scene Mural
The “Underwater Scene” mural was painted by Kelly Wright in 2012. This mural depicts a fantastical oceanside scenery that illuminates the alley behind Castles & Cottages on the 300 block of Victoria Street. Painted on two different walls, one side of this mural features a mermaid sitting on a rock. The other side of the building features Poseidon standing tall with his trident. This mural, originally meant to be based on the bottom half of the building, inspired the artist so heavily that he continued to paint. But Wright became so inspired by the creative process that he kept going. The mural took approximately six weeks for Wright to complete. The conceptualization for this mural makes the view feel encompassed by the many dimensions.
Kelly Wright participated in the creation of many of the murals located downtown. Would you like to see more of Kelly Wright’s artwork? You could come downtown to check out more, or you can take a look at his website gallery here.
